About Madelein MccannI have debated whether or not to post this on my blog; I do not want to be seen as wanting a piece of the cake of fame, nor do I think I have a right to a pain that’s not mine. Yes, I feel for this child, of course. But I do not burn like her parents must be doing right now. I can eat, sleep, I can go to work. I can laugh at bad jokes. My child is upstairs with his father. He is safe. Thank God, a million times.
In addition, it’s not like my blog attracts millions of fans from around the world, with a picture in it greatly increasing the chances of Madelein being found. I’m not really sure whether anyone reads it at all. But hey, here is my thinking. Better to do too much than too little. Better to post her picture, redundantly, pathetically even, in a place where it will be of no use, than to take the attitude that someone else will do it instead of me.
You all know the drill, I think. Wherever you see this child, she should not be there. She should be with her parents, who are waiting for her. Circulate the picture, if you can. If nothing else, an Internet presence will ensure that she is not forgotten, that she doesn’t slip behind the cloud of fresh, more interesting news. The media cannot be there forever. That’s not their job, nor is it what they’re about.
I am not religious and in fact I am often very critical of religions etc. But right now I would like to believe in God. If you exist, please, get Madelein home. Please end this purgatory her family is going through, not knowing where she is. Please end their misery. And if there’s something I can do, please let me know.
